Toronto, April 4, 2017 -- Express your ideas in the developing Ethiopian community and identity in Canada by entering our essay competition. Cash prizes and cool Bikila gifts will be awarded to this year's essay contest winners. Winning essays will be presented at the 3rd annual Bikila Youth Leadership Conference and authors will be given special opportunities for further involvement with the organization.
Categories and Prizes:
1st place $100 and Bikila Golf shirt 2nd place $50 and Bikila T-shirt 3rd place $25 and Bikila Barefoot T-shirt
Theme: "New thinking - My values, principles, and assumptions" Topic: “How to make our Youth and Community Strong, Smart and Competitive” Guide: A commitment to community doesn't arise out of anywhere. It comes from and is guided by our values, principles, and assumptions that spring from our background, cultures, from our experiences, and from our conscious decisions about what is right. These values, principles, and assumptions shape our vision of the world as it should be, and motivate us to try to make it so. As an Ethiopian youth of the diaspora please tell us what Core Values, Principles and Assumptions mean to you from the perspective of your community and the society at large.
Paper submission a maximum of two pages should be received by May 1st 6:00 pm via email, contact@bikilaaward.org Winning prize will be awarded to the winners on May 14th at the 3rd Bikila Youth Leadership Conference in Toronto – 585 Dundas Street East, Daniels Spectrum.
The participant should be under 30 years old. Name, phone and email address should clearly appear on the submission.
